Wednesday: 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Enjoy a midmorning stroll through Fellows Riverside Gardens as you learn the basics of botany and patterns of plant families. From plant parts to nomenclature and the evolution of plants, discover the intricacies that make plants special. Return to the Davis Center to dine on a seasonal lunch plus dessert.

Where: Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave., Youngstown.

Cost: $16; Friends of Fellows Riverside Garden members, $12.

PARKITECTURE

May 29: 6-8 p.m. A trolley tour of the park. Participants will board the trolley at the Ford Nature Center. Justin Rogers, landscape architect for Mill Creek MetroParks, will guide this tour and help participants understand and appreciate the beautiful and historic landscape features and building architecture found within Mill Creek Park. Limited seating.

Registration: Required at least 36 hours in advance.

VEGGIE GARDENING

June 2: 6 p.m. Join the experts for a walk through the urban farm to learn about growing vegetables for the season. We’ll plant seeds and have free seeds for participants.

Where: Mineral Springs Community Garden, 723 Mineral Springs Ave. (near Glenwood Avenue, on Youngstown’s South Side).

June 3: 6 p.m. Danielle Seidita, Iron Roots program coordinator, will present ways to set up a farmers’ market stand for success and profit.
