Autism night for teens, young adults

YOUNGSTOWN

The teen and young adult social group of the Autism Society of Ohio Mahoning Valley is having “A Nite in the Garden” from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mill Creek MetroParks Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave.

The teens and young adults will work with Lori Mowad, family garden education, and other volunteers planting flowers in the Family Garden. Afterward, interested participants can attend a social gathering to talk about how volunteer-work is valuable with regard to employment.

Household cleanup

Poland Township will have an appliance drive and household cleanup day from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the township road department building, 7508 Clingan Road.

Electronics, tires, paints and household hazardous waste will not be accepted.

Sidewalk closing

YOUNGSTOWN

The sidewalk and front area of Warehouse 50, 47 W. Federal St., will be closed for the “Party on the Plaza” event from 4 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday.

Counterfeit $100s found in Salem

SALEM

A 28-year-old Salem man is facing federal criminal counterfeiting charges for erasing the ink off $5 bills and reprinting them to look like $100 bills, according to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

The suspect, Chad Collins, tried to use the money at the Circle K store between January and March, police told WFMJ.

Roads close for race

YOUNGSTOWN

Roads in Mill Creek Park will be closed to vehicular traffic, cyclists and pedestrians from about 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday for the YMCA Memorial 5-Mile Run. The roads are East Glacier, Memorial Hill and West Glacial drives and Price Road.

Rockfall work on state Route 39

SALINEVILLE

The Ohio Department of Transportation is resuming the rockfall remediation project on state Route 39 on Tuesday. The work is just east of Salineville in Columbiana County. Two-way traffic will be maintained in one 11-foot lane with temporary traffic signals, ODOT officials said.

Mahoning County electric program

YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning-Youngstown Community Action Partnership and the Ohio Development Services Agency offer the Electric Partnership Program to help eligible Mahoning County residents determine if their appliances are energy-efficient.

If eligible, the program provides residents with new compact fluorescent light bulbs and possibly replaces a refrigerator and/or freezer with a new Energy Star Model that is energy-efficient.

EPP’s goal is to improve the electric efficiency of income-eligible households who participate in or are eligible for Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus. For information about eligibility, call 330-747-7921, ext. 1765.
