Struthers fundraising luau Thursday

The Struthers School Foundation for Educational Excellence is hosting a Luau for Learning fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Knoll Run Golf Course, 1491 Struthers-Coitsville Road in Lowellville.

The event will feature food, a cash bar, a silent auction and music provided by Thomas John of 106.1 WBBG. Tickets are $25, and proceeds will go toward the purchase of supplemental materials intended to enrich the educational opportunities of students in the Struthers City School District.

Earlier this year, the nonprofit organization awarded more than $10,000 to four grant recipients; the money funded Chromebooks and charging stations, calculators, tablets and informational reading recovery books.
