Church will offer dinner and auction

YOUNGSTOWN

St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., is sponsoring a dinner and basket auction from noon to 5 p.m. June 1 in Maxwell Hall.

Dinners offered will be chicken francaise or pasta a la vodka with salad, green beans, dessert and coffee.

Tickets cost $10 for adults , $5 for children 4 to 10 and free for kids 3 and under.

There also will be a 50-50 drawing. Winners do not need to be present.

Quilt group plans talk by Knochel

Stitching Sisters Quilt Group of Austintown is sponsoring a trunk show and talk by “Quilt in a Day” author Pat Knochel at 10 a.m. June 3 at Smith Corners United Methodist Church (rear entrance), Route 46 and Kirk Road.

Dog rescue group plans Break Chains

AUSTINTOWN

Legacy Dog Rescue will sponsor the third annual Break the Chains, a 12-hour awareness event, on June 7.

Members of Legacy and the community will chain themselves to doghouses, regardless of the weather, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Family Video, at the corner of Kirk and Raccoon Roads,

A bake sale, concession stand and small basket auction also will be available, as well as kettle corn from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The purpose is to educate the public about chained dogs and help people bring them inside.

Golf outing to help fund crisis center

WAMPUM, PA.

The Crisis Center of Lawrence County is planning its Third Annual Fight for Zero Women’s Golf Classic on June 21 at Del-Mar Golf Course, 1079 Smiley Stop Road.

The day will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start followed by prizes, contests, raffles and food. All proceeds will benefit the center.

Individual players and team foursomes are welcome, and sponsorship opportunities are available. Registration, along with payment, will be accepted until June 10.

Police lodge will host golf outing

POLAND

Beaver Police Dept. FOP Lodge 201 will host its 16th annual benefit golf outing Aug. 6 at 8:30 a.m. at the Lake Club Country Club, 1140 Paulin Road.

The outing will cost $85 per person and include a cart, green fees, steak dinner and beverages.

There will be lots of prizes.

All proceeds will be used to fund numerous charitable events.
