Singing competition auditions are Sunday

The inaugural NEO Rising Star Singing Competition championships will be at 3 p.m. July 5 at the CrawlSpace Concert Club, 34 South St.

Auditions will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the club. Those auditioning must bring the $25 fee. Go to neorisingstar.webs.com for information.

Those unable to attend the audition can submit a video audition by email to leeannb90@gmail.com. Include name and contact information.

The competition is open to singers only, and they must provide their own accompaniment (karaoke CD, keyboard, guitar, etc., but no bands).

Based on the format of “American Idol,” the competition will be divided into two rounds. The first will be determined by audience response, and the second by judges. Judges will also decide the winners of the three cash prizes (first place, $250; second, $100; and third, $50).

Vendors of art, jewelry and other original creations are also being sought to sell their wares at the event. The fee is $25 per table.

The competition hosts will be LeeAnn Brall of L.A. Jams and Brian Markle of the CrawlSpace Concert Club.
