Prologo runs marathon

Ali Prologo, a senior at Canfield High School ran in her first half marathon on April 27 at the Hall of Fame Marathon in Canton. She came in third place in her age group with a time of 1:52.57

and was 115 out of 1,086 women. She also ran in the Youngstown Road Runners Club at Mill Creek on March 2 and came in third place overall women in the 5K.

Ritter resigns as Mooney coach

Bill Ritter, girls’ basketball coach at Cardinal Mooney High School, has announced his resignation. Ritter, who has headed the Lady Cardinals program for four years, has coached in the area for 20 years. In addition to his tenure at Mooney with both their girls’ and boys’ program, Ritter also coached at Boardman for 10 years. Applicants for the vacated position should send letters of interest to athletic director Don Bucci.

Cardinal Camp to be June 25-27

The Canfield boys’ varsity basketball team will be hosting Cardinal Camp June 25-27 at Canfield Village Middle School for all boys entering grades 3-8 for the 2014-15 School Year. The cost is $45 and registration fliers are available online at www.mmuck7.weebly.com. Registration forms are also available at all Canfield Local School Main Offices and in the Athletic Office at Canfield High School.

It’s spring sports season. Neighbors wants to be there every step of the way. If you’re a spring sports coach or the parent of an athlete, we need you help. In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages. We can only do that if you commit to sending us game reports and photos each week. If you send it, it will get in.

The sports news we’re looking for ranges from varsity high school teams down to middle school and even elementary and recreational leagues.
