Artists sought to paint murals in Idora Neighborhood

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp., with funding support from the Ohio Capital Improvement Corp., is seeking qualifications from local and regional artists to install two large public murals along Glenwood Avenue in the Idora Neighborhood.

The first mural will be painted on the Park Inn building, at the intersection with Parkview Avenue.

The second will be located on two sides of the La France Cleaners building at West Princeton Avenue. La France is a longtime, locally owned business that is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.

The murals will complement ongoing revitalization efforts on the corridor, including a recently dedicated playground, three community murals, and a farmer’s market to begin operation this summer.

Interested artists should send a cover letter, examples of past work, a resume, and references to YNDC offices by June 1.

A selection committee will review artists’ qualifications and choose the finalists. Interested artists are encouraged to visit the organization’s website, www.yndc.org, to become familiar with its work.
