Stealing freshness in Boardman

A man attempted to steal 57 air fresheners from Family Dollar Wednesday.

According to a police report, the store manager of the 4050 South Avenue location reported a theft. She told police an unknown male was in the back of the store carrying a drawstring backpack and was "taking too long" in the rear of the store.

She approached the suspect, who then tried to leave the store with the bag, but the manager grabbed one of the strings and cut it with a box cutter. The manager retrieved the bag and found 57 various air fresheners valued at $134.75.

The male fled into a car and was driven away from the scene.
