A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:
HUBBARD
May 9
Assault: A 16-year-old Hubbard girl alleged her boyfriend had bitten her.
Assault: Antonette M. Scharsu, 19, of Hillview Drive, Hubbard, faced a simple-assault charge after an officer on another call alleged having seen Scharsu grab another woman’s hair and punch her face and head.
May 10
Arrest: Police responded to a report of an erratic driver near Erie and North Main streets before charging Brian E. Ferrett of Elizabeth Street, Hubbard, with operating a vehicle impaired. Ferrett, 47, also was wanted on a contempt-of-court warrant charging failure to pay court-ordered child support.
May 11
Complaint: Officers cited 30-year-old David J. Mesaros Jr. of Jackson Street, Hubbard, after a Center Street man and his son discovered that a dog had attacked and injured their dog.
May 12
Criminal damaging: Joseph A. Turner II, 28, of South Maryland Avenue, Youngstown, faced a criminal-damaging charge after a witness reported having heard someone fire seven shots at a streetlight near Orchard Avenue. Damage was estimated at $400.
LIBERTY
May 8
Assault: A server at a Belmont Avenue restaurant alleged her employer tossed her register card, striking her chest, after she had misplaced the item. When asked a few times, the accuser’s boss denied knowing the card’s whereabouts, then angrily threw it at her, she told police.
Theft: Two debit cards were removed from a vehicle in the 6600 block of Sodom-Hutchings Road.
Arrest: Mary E. Kiehl, 29, of Park Avenue, East Palestine, was taken into custody at the Mahoning County jail on an outstanding township warrant.
Drugs: Two employees with Quality Inn & Suites, 4055 Belmont Ave., discovered four bags of suspected marijuana and a prescription bottle containing a pink liquid in a room after a Youngstown woman had checked out.
Criminal damaging: A glass-block window intentionally was broken at a building in the 4700 block of Belmont Avenue. Damage came to $250.
May 9
Burglary: To an apartment in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive. Six pairs of shoes valued at $600 were taken.
Breaking and entering: A surveillance camera reportedly caught a man and a woman inside Gypsy Quick Stop, 600 Gypsy Lane, and police noticed a rock likely had been used to smash a front-door window. Stolen were cigars.
Arrest: Andrew S. Strickland, 19, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail. Strickland, of Cambridge Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on an outstanding township warrant.
Drugs: An off-duty sheriff’s deputy in the 200 block of Goldie Road reported possible drug activity to township police, who charged 18-year-old David C. Hight Jr. of Logan Arms Drive, Liberty, with marijuana possession and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Hight admitted having a bag of suspected marijuana and handed it to officers, a report said.
May 10
Theft: A $700 green dirt bike was stolen in the 30 block of James Lane.
Aggravated menacing: Two employees with a Belmont Avenue lounge told police a patron revealed a firearm on his person after having tried to enter without paying a cover charge.
Domestic violence: A charge was pending against a 27-year-old Youngstown woman after her partner, of Liberty, alleged the woman threw her to the ground, then punched her stomach, rib cage and face.
Drugs: A suspicious vehicle on Northview Drive caught authorities’ attention before they issued a summons charging Bruce A. Prahm, 31, with marijuana possession after alleging Prahm, of Trumbull Court, Liberty, had a large bag of suspected marijuana and a suspected marijuana cigar.
May 11
Theft: A Girard man told police his $200 bicycle was stolen while he was at a Belmont Avenue fast-food restaurant.
May 12
Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed 38-year-old Torrielarae Crump to township authorities. Crump, of Ohio Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on several township warrants.
May 13
Arrest: Authorities were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail to take custody of 42-year-old Wendy M. Thrasher of Mercer Road, Greenville, Pa. She was wanted on a probation-violation charge.
Harassment: A worker for a Belmont Avenue insurance agency said a caller made an implied threat.
Arrest: Police at the Mahoning County jail booked 37-year-old Jody L. Yaple of Arlene Avenue, Boardman, on a warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court on a theft charge.
May 14
Menacing: A Youngstown man reported a relative threatened him in the 200 block of Goldie Road.
GIRARD
May 9
Theft: A $200 bicycle was removed from a garage in the 100 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road.
May 10
Theft: The license plates were removed from a vehicle in the 900 block of North Ward Avenue.
Theft: A Gordon Street woman told officers someone in a truck stole her wheelbarrow in which was her house and car keys.
Identity fraud: A Park Avenue man found out his name and Social Security number had been used to file an income-tax return.
Felonious assault: A man being treated at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center in Youngstown told police that during an argument in the 300 block of North Avenue, a man swung a knife, cutting the victim’s arm.
May 11
Theft: An employee with a West Main Street restaurant discovered her $600 iPhone missing while at work.
Menacing: A Plymouth Avenue man alleged a neighbor threatened to shoot his dog if it wandered onto his property, and threatened him.
May 12
Criminal mischief: A woman in the 400 block of North Avenue noticed that someone had covered her car with a substance that resembled applesauce.
Arrest: Aaron A. Bevilacqua, 31, of Washington Avenue, Girard, was picked up on a warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Theft: A Patricia Drive woman learned that her stolen debit card had been used to withdraw about $4,500 from her account in a two-week period.
Menacing: A worker for a U.S. Route 422 restaurant said a former employee called and made a veiled threat.
Assault: A woman and her neighbor in the 100 block of West Second Street each reported having been assaulted by the other.
May 13
Burglary: Took place in the 100 block of East Kline Street, where a woman reported $260 stolen from her purse.
Menacing: The landlord of a rental property in the 20 block of West Second Street said a man threatened to harm him.
