Community parade and celebration set for Saturday

Unity in the Community Parade and Celebration will take place Saturday.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. at Market Street and Midlothian Boulevard, in parking lot B across from Newport Library.

Those participating should arrive at the following times: large vehicles and cars at 8:30 a.m., bands and motorcycles at 8:45, walkers at 9 and animals at 9:15. Give the attendant your group name when you arrive, take banners and candy and be on time.

Groups performing in the Community Day Celebration must provide a biography card about who you are and what your group will do.

All groups can pass out information fliers and should take tables and chairs.

Fees and insurance information are due by 5 p.m. today.

The Community Day Celebration will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at South Field House on Market Street with parking available across from the field house.
