Youngstown will provide free breakfast and lunch in the summer to kids who qualify

YOUNGSTOWN

The city’s parks and recreation department will provide breakfast and lunch at no cost during its summer-camp program to kids who qualify.

The meals will be served at seven city parks between June 11 and Aug. 6. Breakfast is at 10 a.m. and lunch at 1 p.m.

To be eligible to receive free meals, children must meet the income guidelines for reduced-price meals in the National School Lunch Program.

Children who are in households receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program (formerly called food stamps) benefits or benefits under the Food Distribution Program or the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families automatically are eligible to receive free meals.

The meals will be served at the following parks, which also will be locations for summer-camp activities:

Crandall Park, 400 Redondo Road.

Lynn Park, 140 Lynn Ave.

Glenwood Park, 2538 Glenwood Ave.

Homestead Park, 829 E. Dewey Ave.

MVSD Park, 180 N. Dunlap Ave.

John White Park, 2300 Kimmel Ave.

Wick Park, 260 Park Ave.
