Boardman road to have street lights

BOARDMAN
Timothy Lane soon will have three streetlights after a majority of residents on the street voted in favor of them.
One of those residents is George Kiraly.
Kiraly’s garage was hit by a driver who failed to stop and also totaled Kiraly’s car that was in the garage — a “good” reason why Kiraly said he wants to have streetlights.
He said at the township trustees meeting Monday that the lights also will provide a sense of security. Still, he would like to see stop signs put up.
The township said the possibility of stop signs will be looked into to make sure the implementation of the road sign follows the Ohio Revised Code.
Ohio Edison Co. will install the lights within the next five weeks. Nine residents out of 14 on Timothy Lane signed a petition to add the street lights. There needed to be 51 percent or more in favor of the lights. The cost will be annually assessed on the homeowners’ taxes for $246.39 the first year and $21.07 every following year, unless the homeowners decide they do not want the lights in the future.
Trustees approved a motion to enter into an agreement with Ohio Edison for a period of 10 years to furnish the three lights.
Also at the meeting, trustees passed a resolution to notify homeowners that their properties have been declared a nuisance for high grass, rubbish in the yard or other issues.
Zoning Inspector Sarah Gartland told trustees 38 properties are on the list so far for mainly high grass and some for rubbish in the yard, and she expects the list to grow.
