Writers group plans to meet
CANFIELD
Area writers, both published and unpublished, are invited to the next meeting of Monday Night Writers from 6 to 8 p.m. May 19 at Peaberry’s Cafe, 4350 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Led by author and professional writer Nancy Christie, the two-hour sessions include a mix of writing exercises, information on the creative and business aspects of writing and group feedback on works in progress.

Author Lennington puts out new novel
CORTLAND
Judy Lennington of Cortland is announcing the publication of her seventh novel, “Bluegrass Dynasty,” the third in a four-book series about a breeder of thoroughbreds and his dysfunctional family.
Lennington, formerly of East Palestine, was raised in the Negley-Rogers area and is a graduate of Beaver High School.

Poetry reading to feature Murcko
YOUNGSTOWN
Pig Iron Literary & Art Works will feature reader Terry Murcko of Liberty when the group’s Second Tuesday Poetry Reading takes place Tuesday evening at Pig Iron Press, 26 N. Phelps St., downtown.
After the featured presentation, an open-microphone session welcomes those attending to share poems or other short readings up to eight minutes.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the reading will begin at 7.
A poet and musician, Murcko was raised in Sharon, Pa., and educated at Youngstown State University. He is a retired high-school teacher who is published and performs often in Kent, combining spoken words and music. He is skilled at both accordion and percussion.
The next Second Tuesday poetry reading is planned for June 10, and the featured reader will be announced. For information, call 330-747-6932.
