The Mahoning Valley Safety Council and co-sponsors the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and City Machine Technologies will have the MVSC Safety Awards luncheon Wednesday at Antone’s Banquet Center, 8578 Market St.
Awards are given to individuals and companies that have shown leadership in safety training, operations, funding and communications.
This year’s keynote speaker will be U.S. Safety Gear CEO Tarry Alberini.

Teaming 4 Success
LISBON
Thomas E. Stewart, executive vice president of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association, will be the keynote speaker at the Teaming 4 Success event May 19, where city and county officials will provide an update on local economic-development activity.
The event will take place in the Community Room at the Columbiana County Government Services Building, 7989 Dickey Drive, Suite 2.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the program, which also will feature speed networking of area business resources, will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $40 per person, and reservations can be made by contacting the local chambers of commerce.
Sponsorships, including a free ticket and advertising, are available for $100.

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and The Vindicator will host the 22nd annual ATHENA Award dinner May 22 at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center, 7440 South Ave.
Diana Tremblay, General Motors vice president of global business services, will be the keynote speaker.
The award recognizes area business and professional women who distinguish themselves in terms of professional achievement, community service and support for professional women.
Farmers to host ribbon-cutting

Farmers National Bank will host a ribbon-cutting from noon to 2 p.m. May 22 for Farmers Wealth Management Group at 2 S. Broad Street. Refreshments will be served.

Handel’s Ice Cream to receive honor
POLAND
Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley in Boardman will present Handel’s Ice Cream with the 2014 “Champion for Our Valley’s Children” award, honoring the company for making more than $175,000 in contributions to the hospital’s programs and services the past five years.
The award presentation will take place at the fourth annual Champions for Our Valley’s Children dinner at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road.
