LANCASTER, Ohio
An Ohio man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of attempted rape, kidnapping and domestic violence stemming from incidents involving his wife.
The jury found 33-year-old Carl Cherryholmes of Lancaster guilty in January of attempted rape, kidnapping, abduction and domestic violence. They found him not guilty of rape.
Fairfield County Judge Richard Berens sentenced Cherryholmes to 11 years in prison Friday, with six years suspended in lieu of community controls.
Cherryholmes’ attorney told The Eagle-Gazette that he plans to appeal the conviction and sentence.
Cherryholmes must report to jail June 3, undergo counseling for sex-offense behavior and register as a sex offender.
Cherryholmes’ wife says her husband physically and sexually assaulted her after their marriage hit a rough patch.
