The Hubbard schools superintendent told police he won’t press charges against a janitor after a dispute between the two got physical earlier this week.

A report says Richard Buchenic told police Chief Jim Taafe on Thursday he won’t press charges because the janitor submitted a letter of resignation. Police consider the case closed.

Police said they went to the high school at 3:43 p.m. Monday to meet with Buchenic, the janitor and the janitor’s supervisor. The supervisor had called Buchenic when the janitor came in for work on what was supposed to be “an approved personal day off.”

Buchenic told police he asked the man to leave because he was “starting the process for a nonrenewal termination.”

He told the janitor to give back keys that belong to the schools first, but he would not, the report said.

When the janitor got up to leave without returning the keys, Buchenic blocked his way, the report says.

The janitor pressed Buchenic against a door with an arm to his throat, the report says.
