NEW CASTLE, PA.

The ninth annual “Come, Christians, Join to Sing — A Musical Celebration” will be at 7 p.m. May 18 at First Presbyterian Church, 125 N. Jefferson St.

Traditional, Gospel, classical and contemporary Christian music will be directed by Steve Pridon. Participants will be the Celebration Ringers and Singers and children’s choir of the church, Sheet and Tube Brass Quartet and Edelweiss Woodwind Quintet. Allison Rodgers will sing several songs.

A free-will donation will benefit New Castle City Rescue Mission.Refreshments will follow.

Women of Praise

Youngstown

Women of Praise Youngstown will present “The Clarion Call” Thursday through Sunday at St. James Church of God in Christ, 75 S. Prospect Ave.

Speakers will be prophetess Kelly Crews of Quest Community Church in Cleveland at 6 p.m. Thursday; Pastor Renae Moore of Way of Escape Ministries in Cleveland at noon and 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday; and Pastor Terry Coleman of Dominion Christian Center in Toledo at 6 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday. Lori Porter is host pastor.

At Lampost Farm

Lampost Farm, 14900 Market St., will sponsor a Conference of Alternative Ministry, a reflective weekend, Friday through May 18. The educational, grass-based livestock farm’s mission is to build a relationship with God’s creation.

The event opens at 4 p.m. Friday with overview at 6:30 p.m. by Steven Motgomery, farm executive director, and Bret Mavrich, past pastor of Life Church in Washington, Pa.

Saturday sessions will be on compost, grafting fruit trees, chickens and mushrooms. Ragan Sutterfield, author and farmer, will speak at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Gospel choir

The Gospel Choir of Phillips Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, 1407 Victor Ave., will celebrate its 51st anniversary with a program at 4 p.m. May 18.

Male choruses, adult choirs, soloists, praise dancers and mimes of other churches are invited to participate.

Mother’s Day

Vision City, 2681 Youngstown Road, will present a Mother’s Day service at 10 a.m. with guest Pastor Carla Robinson. Dr. Jerome A. Jones is host pastor.

First Friday Club

Dr. Marie T. Hilliard will speak on “Bioethics: What Does the Church Teach?” when the First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown meets June 5 at Antone’s Banquet Centre, 8578 Market St.

She is director of bioethics and public policy at the National Catholic Bioethics Center in Philadelphia.

Labyrinth walk

A guided labyrinth walk, “On the Path to Healing,” will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road.
