Hubbard superintendent in confrontation with janitor

HUBBARD — Schools Superintendent Richard Buchenic told police he will not press charges against a janitor after a dispute over a set of keys got physical, a report says.

Buchenic, 70, confronted Dan Bevilacqua, 47, for coming to work Monday when he had "an approved personal day off," the police report said.

Buchenic told police he asked Bevilacqua to leave because he was "starting the process for a nonrenewal termination."

He told Bevilacqua to give back keys that belong to the schools before he left, and when Bevilacqua would not, he blocked him from leaving.

Bevilacqua pressed Buchenic against the door with an arm to his throat, the report says.

Buchenic told police Thursday that Bevilacqua submitted a letter of resignation, and he doesn't want to file charges.
