Commissioners take no action on port authority
WARREN — The Mahoning and Trumbull county commissioners emerged after more than an hour behind closed doors this afternoon without taking any action regarding the Western Reserve Port Authority board of directors or staff.
Trumbull County Commissioner Paul Heltzel said after the executive session on legal and personnel matters that the commissioners of each county would consult with their respective county prosecutors and likely meet again concerning the port authority’s governance in two to four weeks.
Before today’s special meeting, David Ditzler, chairman of the Mahoning County commissioners, had said he favored dissolving the port authority’s board, which he said was dysfunctional and has left economic development projects “at a standstill.”
