Clips’ Crawford wins NBA Sixth Man award
LOS ANGELES
Jamal Crawford of the Los Angeles Clippers has won the NBA Sixth Man Award as the league’s best player off the bench.
The 34-year-old guard is the oldest recipient and the first to win it for two different teams. Crawford won it while with Atlanta in 2009-10. The award was announced Thursday.
Crawford led the league’s reserve players in scoring this season, averaging 18.6 points. He came off the bench in 45 of 69 games he played in, helping the Clippers to a 57-25 record, their best regular-season mark in franchise history. He set the single-season franchise record for 3-pointers made with 161.
Shelly Sterling wants to keep Clippers
An attorney representing the estranged wife of Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling says she will fight to retain her 50 percent ownership stake in the team.
Attorney Pierce O’Donnell also told The Associated Press that Mrs. Sterling has been separated from her husband for the last year and is considering divorce.
Last week, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver banned Donald Sterling from the NBA for life and urged league owners to force him to sell the team. The move came after a recording surfaced in which Sterling made racist comments.
O’Donnell said Mrs. Sterling “abhors” the comments. He said he spoke with NBA officials Thursday morning but declined to elaborate. O’Donnell said Mrs. Sterling is an ardent Clippers fan and plans to attend Friday’s playoff game against Oklahoma City.
