Concept Schools, which includes Horizon Science Academy Youngstown, received the STEM Pioneer Leadership Award from the International Association of STEM Leaders.

Concept Schools is a Midwest charter-school network focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics education and advancing STEM education in classrooms across the country.

“The future of our students depends on today’s work in our classroom and in classrooms across the country,” Sedat Duman, Concept president and CEO, said in a news release. “Never has STEM education been so important in ensuring that our students are prepared for careers as scientists, researchers and engineers.”

Horizon Science Academy Youngstown, 3403 Southern Blvd., provides students in grades kindergarten through eight with an academic and social environment focused on rigorous instruction and high student expectations with an emphasis on science, math and technology.
