Benghazi still haunts Dems

Dallas Morning News: Twenty months ago, in the heat of a presidential campaign, a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans were killed in Benghazi, Libya. The collective who, what, when, where and why remain as murky and polarizing as before voters awarded Barack Obama a second term.

“What difference, at this point, does it make?” as outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton famously demanded in January 2013.

The answer is that all of us — particularly the Americans in foreign service — deserve a full accounting of what happened before, during and after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2012. The loved ones of Ambassador Christopher Stevens, computer specialist Sean Smith and two former Navy SEALs hired to help protect them, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, deserve no less.

If Democrats, in the run-up to the November midterm elections, thought they had put Benghazi behind them, they received a jolting wake-up call last week. New Benghazi-related documents obtained through Freedom of Information Act requests lend credence to claims that the Obama White House was more concerned with political considerations than getting to the bottom of what happened in Benghazi, Libya.
