Two Youngstown firefighters treated for burns

YOUNGSTOWN

Reports said firefighters Robert Rivera, 27 and Jeff Kaschak, 29, were treated for burns received while fighting a fire at a vacant 4214 Southern Blvd. building about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Crews arriving found heavy black smoke coming from the building and high heat and heavy fire forced firefighters out of the building and a ladder truck was used to help put the fire out, reports said.

Reports said neighbors told firefighters that renovations were taking place on the building.

Damage is listed at $10,000. The cause is under investigation.
