State seeks recovery from failed Liberty LEAD, LEARN schools

LIBERTY — The Ohio auditor’s office has issued findings for recovery in five audits against two community schools that operated in the Liberty school district from 2009 to 2011.

Auditor Dave Yost issued findings today against LEARN and LEAD from 2009 to 2012 that included not having documentation to support expenditures, unreconciled books and bank statements, and noncompliance with public records and meetings laws.

LEARN and LEAD suspended operations in October 2011 after moving to Portage County.
