POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Boardman Township:

May 2

Arrest: Authorities arrested 64-year-old Glennie D. Young at her Lowell Avenue residence on three felony counts each of forgery and receiving stolen property. The Youngstown woman was accused of stealing three business payroll checks last month from All Demolition & Co., 1195 E. Western Reserve Road, and cashing them for $2,500.

Theft: A $40 bottle of tanning lotion was taken from Tanfastic, 1295 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Harassment: A Meadowbrook Avenue woman said a man called her three times claiming she owes money to a cash-advance company, though he never specified an amount.

Theft/drugs: Peter M. Reese of Princess Street, Campbell, faced charges of theft, drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia after a $13 T-shirt was removed from Walmart. The 24-year-old Reese also had a bag of suspected heroin and a straw with suspected heroin residue, police said.

Arrest: Vanessa D. Otey, 57, was charged with obstructing official business after police pulled her over in the 4000 block of Market Street. Otey, of Glenwood Avenue, Boardman, provided a false name, date of birth and Social Security number, authorities said.

Criminal damaging: A man returned to his Willow Drive apartment to find a large, gaping hole in his wall. Damage came to $1,000.

Theft: A man stole a $70 air pistol from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Menacing: A Canavan Drive man told officers a tenant made threatening calls, apparently as part of a dispute regarding the tenant’s security deposit.

Theft: Savannah M. Young, 27, of East South Range Road, North Lima, was charged with stealing two swim suits from Walmart.

Arrest: A traffic stop on Market Street ended with police taking into custody Joshua A. Kijowski, 30, after they learned Kijowski, of Stephney Road, Niles, was wanted on eight warrants charging failure to appear in court.

Arrest: Authorities near Chester Drive apprehended 26-year-old Kevin E. Bacher of Carter Circle, Boardman, and charged him with one felony count each of obstructing official business, failure to comply with police and drug abuse after alleging that while attempting a traffic stop, Bacher fled in a vehicle then on foot, and had a bag of six prescription pills. The charges were upgraded to felonies because officers were injured during the foot pursuit, a report showed.

Theft: Justin A. Blalock, 26, of East Chalmers Avenue, Youngstown, was charged in the theft of 12 bottles of cologne from Walmart.

May 3

Theft: James E. Whitten, 44, was charged after police accused the Franklin, Pa., man of taking four model cars from Walmart.

Theft: A woman in her 40s removed candy and paper towels from Rite Aid Pharmacy, 307 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Possible abduction: A witness in the 900 block of East Midlothian Boulevard reported having seen a man force a woman into a maroon Pontiac Grand Prix during a fight between them.

Citation: A traffic stop on Market Street resulted in a citation charging 34-year-old Ralph Eiland Jr. of Columbus with having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Arrest: Officers in the 6300 block of South Avenue picked up a 17-year-old township boy who was wanted on a warrant from the Trumbull county Juvenile Justice Center. The original charge was menacing.

Theft: John A. Meadows, 18, of Julian Street, Youngstown, was charged, accused of stealing $18 worth of electronics items from Walmart.

Harassment: A woman to whom a business in the 4000 block of Market Street had issued a criminal-trespassing warning reportedly made continuous unwanted calls to the business.

Theft: Two women in their 30s stole $150 worth of prime ribs from GFS Marketplace, 7460 South Ave.

Harassment: A worker with an East Western Reserve Road used-car dealership reported a woman made such calls to the business after having been asked to return a car that was loaned to her.

Theft: A township woman noticed her purse missing while at a Windham Court restaurant.

Arrests: A Boardman boy and a Poland girl, both 17, were arrested at a police checkpoint near Truesdale Avenue on charges of underage possession or consumption of alcohol.

May 4

Theft: An Austintown woman discovered prescription medications and $70 missing while visiting friends in the 4300 block of Chester Drive.

Recovered property: A stolen 2014 Toyota vehicle was found at a business in the 7300 block of Market Street.

Theft: Two women and a man left Steak ‘n’ Shake, 6786 Applewood Blvd., without paying their food bills that totaled nearly $14.

Theft: A man stole a five-tool kit valued at $599 from Lowe’s, 1100 Doral Drive.

Theft: A Boardman woman reported her purse missing while attending an event at Boardman Park on U.S. Route 224.

Menacing: A woman told officers a van has continually driven past her home in the 300 block of Erskine Avenue.

Harassment: A North Cadillac Drive man said he received two such calls, apparently after having won a civil suit.

May 5

Bad check: Authorities took custody of 46-year-old Serena M. Billingsley on a felony township warrant charging the Solon woman with passing a bad check.

Misuse of a credit card: A Glen Park Road woman learned that her stolen card had been used without authorization at two area gas stations.

Felonious assault: Officers responding to a fight in the 400 block of Mathews Road charged Ceyanie D. Dubose Jr., 19, of Elm Street, Youngstown, with two counts of domestic violence and one each of felonious assault and obstructing official business after two family members alleged that during an altercation, Dubose had punched them in the face, causing one victim to require hospitalization. He also gave a false name, police said.

Theft: A man failed to return three engine blocks to Race Performance, 48 Karago Ave.

Identity theft: A Boardman woman told police her personal information was used to fraudulently open a phone account after she had received a letter claiming she owes $684.

Harassment: An Alburn Drive woman said her former boyfriend has continually made and sent such calls and text messages.

Theft: An orange construction barrel was removed from a building in the 7600 block of Market Street.

Theft/harassment: A Montrose Circle woman reported the theft of mail, and that her former husband has been harassing her.

Theft: A West Union, Ohio, woman reported about $46,000 worth of jewelry stolen from her car while staying at a Tiffany Boulevard motel.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A traffic stop in the 7400 block of Salinas Trail led to a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle against 33-year-old Virginia L. Skarada of Afton Avenue, Boardman, after a township man alleged Skarada had used his 2002 Ford Escort car without consent.

Possible theft: A New Springfield woman reported her wallet lost or stolen while at a Doral Drive big-box store.

Theft: Three women in their 30s stole $295 worth of men’s cologne from Bath and Body Works in the Southern Park Mall.

Fraud: A South Avenue man found out someone had withdrawn $502 from his checking account without permission.

Identity theft: A Mapleridge Drive man reported his account information had been used to activate three iPhone accounts, resulting in a $1,890 bill.
