Twins club names Mother of the Year

Youngstown Mothers of Twins Club has selected Amy Garland of Boardman as Mother of the Year for 2014.

She has been married to Mike Garland for 12 years and is the mother of Olivia, 10, twins Carina and Nathan, 4, and infant Samantha.

Since joining the club in 2011, she has served as historian and recording secretary and serves as vice president and program chairwoman. She participates in the annual Quarter Auction fundraiser, the May Rummage Sale and the March of Dimes Walk.

Garland and her family belong to Bethel Lutheran Church in Boardman, where she helps with the children’s moment during the 11 a.m. service. She also helps with the Ladies Spring Luncheon and the annual Cookie Walk in December.

She participates in Old North Church of Canfield’s MOPS program, having served on the Steering Team, as hospitality leader and now as publicity leader.

She is employed part time as a newscast producer for 21 WFMJ-TV and is an independent sales consultant for Tastefully Simple.

Her other interests include cooking, baking, scrap-booking and exercise. She likes zumba, swimming and running and has completed two sprint triathlons and numerous 5K races. Garland will represent the local group at the Ohio State Federation Mothers of Twins Convention, which will take place June 27 and 28 in Strongsville.
