Public-relations firm Pecchia Communications this week is launching its “Workeries Draft,” a round-by-round competition to select the best roster of places to work while eating and enjoying coffee in the Mahoning Valley.

To join in the conversation, track updates online at the Pecchia Communications website and on the firm’s Facebook page. At the conclusion of the draft May 19, Pecchia Communications will give away four gift cards for the winning establishments to those who contributed the most to the discussion.

Ribbon-cutting set

WARREN

Huntington Bank and local sponsors will be on hand to celebrate the official ribbon-cutting and grand opening of the Women Inspiring Nurturing Gaining Strength, or W.I.N.G.S., permanent supportive-housing apartments at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

The 12 furnished apartments for women and children, at 375 N. Park Ave., offer case management, mental-health and chemical-dependence counseling, employment assistance and other specialized care to help families avoid homelessness and live stable, healthy lives.

Those contributing funding to the project are Warren Trumbull Home Consortium, Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati, Huntington, Corporation for Supportive Housing, Rotary Club of Warren and Ohio Housing Finance Agency.

Service-firm growth

WASHINGTON

U.S. service firms grew last month at the fastest pace since August as new orders and sales grew, adding to evidence that the economy is picking up after a slow start to the year.

The Institute for Supply Management said Monday that its service-sector index rose to 55.2 from 53.1 in March. Any reading above 50 indicates expansion.
