Nick Heitzer had three hits, two runs and an RBI and Phil Socha added three hits, a run and an RBI for Fitch, which scored four runs in the second inning to take control. Scott Pierce added two doubles, a run and an RBI and Zach Miller singled, doubled and drove in two runs for the Falcons. Patrick Gerberry pitched 61/3 innings with four strikeouts to get the win. Will Haueter had three hits, including two doubles, for Hoover.
Struthers 11, Edgewood 7
ASHTABULA
Dan Diloreto singled, doubled and three RBIs and Anthony Angelleli had two hits and scored three runs for Struthers (7-6), which scored five runs in the top of the seventh to rally. Jon Mudrinich (2-1) pitched the final two innings to get the win. Andrew Graeb had two hits and two runs for Edgewood (10-6).
Jefferson 5, Poland 3
JEFFERSON
Steven Houser had four hits and an RBI and Brandon Reinke added three hits and two RBIs for Jefferson (13-6, 5-2 AAC White), which scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to break a tie game. Pat Carlozzi had three hits and scored a run and Dom Lipari had two hits and scored for Poland.
Howland 5, Warren Harding 4
WARREN
Kurt Kuszmaul hit the go-ahead home run in the top of the seventh to lead Howland. He also doubled, Zach Miner had two doubles and two RBIs and Matt Doan scored twice for the Tigers. Tyler Jackson and Adam Butler each had two hits and an RBI for Harding.
Newton Falls 10, Champion 0, 6 innings
CHAMPION
Justin Humphrey pitched a two-hitter with a strikeout and no walks for Newton Falls. He also had two hits, Matt Swingle had two hits and two RBIs and Noah Suarez had two hits. Michael Turner doubled for Champion.
Crestview 5, Columbiana 0
COLUMBIANA
Rebels starter Michael McDonough threw a no-hitter, striking out 10 batters and facing the minimum. Columbiana’s only baserunner, who reached on an error, was thrown out stealing by Crestview catcher Josh McGoogan. McDonough also did damage at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three walks and two RBIs. Kaden Davis scored a run and drove in two more. Andrew Simmons also had two RBIs for Crestview (4-8, 3-5 ITCL). Columbiana fell to 1-11.
Western Reserve 3, Mineral Ridge 1
MINERAL RIDGE
Blue Devils senior pitcher Nick Allison held the Rams to two hits while striking out 15 in a complete game. Walker Marlowe went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Marlowe and Evan Nesbitt both reached base to lead off the game before scoring runs to give Reserve a 2-0 lead. Darren Colon came across for Ridge’s only run in the second before Allison took over. Allison outdueled Rams ace Greg Strohmeyer, who also went seven innings, surrendering eight hits and three earned runs.
Jackson-Milton 3, Lowellville 2
NORTH JACKSON
Nate Clark held the Rockets to two hits before Eric Oscrowski closed out the win for the Bluejays (8-3). Jackson-Milton scored twice in the first and Scott Mitchell’s RBI single in the fifth scored Jeremy Fitpatrick for the winning margin. Jay Millo’s two-RBI double cut the Rockets’ deficit to one.
Mathews 9, Grand Valley 4
VIENNA
Alex Bagaglia pitched 62/3 innings, striking out seven to get the win and Mike Kennedy added two hits for the Mustangs (10-4, 8-1 Northeastern Athletic Conference). Bryan Leipply doubled and drove in two runs and Bryan Oatridge and Kolan Elser each added two RBIs. Grand Valley is 3-16, 3-9.
