Man steals beer, dog food from Austintown store

AUSTINTOWN

A man stole over $200 worth of beer and dog food from Giant Eagle Sunday.

The manager of the 5220 Mahoning Avenue location called police at 5:34 p.m. Sunday after a store official approached a male suspect in the parking lot. According to a police report, they asked for a receipt of the purchases and the suspect fled in a black Chevrolet blazer.

The man stole 12 cases of Corona and Heineken beer along with one bag of Purina One dog food, totaling $212.99. The suspect left two cases behind when he fled westbound on Mahoning Avenue.
