ELECTION UPDATE | Maruca has early lead for probate court

YOUNGSTOWN — With early votes tabulated in the Mahoning County Democratic Primary for probate court, Susan Maruca is leading Chris Sammarone 2,389 to 1,829.

Also, in the Democratic primary for the 58th Ohio House District, Michele Lepore-Hagan has a comfortable lead over three other challengers for the seat. The district is now represented by her husband, state Rep. Robert F. Hagan.

The county half-percent sales tax is passing with 2,974 to 2,645. In a tight race for a Youngstown charter amendment to ban fracking, early voters favor it 814 to 801. A 4.1-mill bond issue for a new high school in Austintown is losing by a nearly 2-1 margin.
