BINGO, CARD PARTIES
GCU Lodge 164 and St. Mary Church will host a night of bingo Sunday to benefit the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley, the St. Vincent de Paul Society Kitchen and Turning Point Residential, Inc. The event, at St. Mary’s Assumption Social Center, 356 S. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown, will open its doors at 4:15 p.m., and bingo will begin at 6:45 p.m.
St. Rose Big Bingo Night will take place May 16 at St. Rose School, 61 E. Main St. Doors open at 6 p.m. and bingo starts at 6:30. Tickets are $55 each; call the church rectory at 330-545-4351. There will be a $6,000 payout, six door prizes of $100 each and a bonus door prize of $200 in instant lottery tickets; winner-takes-all tickets are $3. The buffet comprises pasta and meatballs, chicken, potatoes, green beans, salad and homemade bread.
BOOK SALES
Friends of the Community Library of the Shenango Valley are hosting a Big Used Book Sale on Wednesday through Saturday at the library, 11 N. Sharpsville Ave., Sharon, Pa. Hours are 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Gently used books, magazines and audiovisual materials have been organized for the sale, and all proceeds will benefit the library.
CRAFT SHOWS

FASHION SHOWS
Living Testimonies Ministries, 34 Jacobs Road, Youngstown, will host its 4th annual spring fashion show fundraiser from 1 to 4 p.m. May 17. Adult donations are $10, children’s 6 to 12 are $4 and children 5 and under attend free. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m., and the show will follow. For tickets call 330-623-1321.

Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., will host a spring trash and treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday is bargain-bag day. Coffee and doughnuts will be available.
Grace Lutheran Church, 162 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown, will host a trash and treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be household goods, tools, books, clothes, collectibles and more. Lunch, baked goods and refreshments will be available. Use the rear entrance of the church. Donations of items for the sale will be accepted through Thursday by contacting the church, 330-792-5889. Proceeds will be used by the men’s group to fund improvements or maintenance projects at the church.
Hubbard Junior Garden Club will have a plant and bake sale from 9 a.m. to noon May 17 in the Hubbard City Building parking lot, 220 W. Liberty St.
Poland Lions Club will sponsor a garage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 17 at Poland Masonic Lodge, 7685 Youngstown Pittsburgh Road (on Route 170 near Dobbins Road). It will feature furniture, small appliances, pictures, lamps, tools, books, household items, toys, electronics, sports items, exercise, jewelry, collectibles, clothes, shoes and miscellaneous. There also will be a gift basket raffle featuring a Swarovski crystal necklace, a Kindle, Browns signed football, Steelers, golf, Mountaineer Resort stay, camera, shredder, headphones, jewelry, Nine West wallet, Steve Madden wallet, $100 gift card, Indians tickets, massages and more. The drawing will be at 2 p.m. and winners do not need to be present.
Salem First United Methodist Church, 244 S. Broadway, is hosting a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Struthers Parkside Church, 110 Poland Ave., is sponsoring a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 17. There will be toys, books, household items and more. There also will be specialty items including jewelry, crocheted items, Mary Kay and Scentsy candles. Lunch and baked goods will be sold and drawings will take place. Jewish Community Center of Youngstown will sponsor a bus trip to Pittsburgh July 13 to see the musical “Evita,” the story of Eva Peron, who used her beauty and charisma to rise from the slums of Argentina to the presidential mansion as first lady. The cost is $67 for members and $77 for nonmembers. Dinner is on your own. The bus will leave the center at 3 p.m. and return at 10:30 p.m. Nov. 2 a bus trip to Pittsburgh to see “Annie” the musical. The cost is $80 for members and $90 for nonmembers. The bus will leave the center at 11 a.m. and return at 8 p.m. Prices for both trips include orchestra seating and transportation. Dinner is on your own.
