Suspect: I'm a drug dealer

YOUNGSTOWN

Reports say a man questioned by police Sunday morning at South and Cornell avenues told them he was a drug dealer.

Police were looking for three people who had run for them and had set up a perimeter when they spotted Jimmie Payne Jr., 21, of Youngstown walking up South Avenue. Reports said Payne looked young and officers stopped to ask him his age to see if he was in violation of the city’s curfew ordinance.

Reports said Payne was looking for his identification in his backpack but he smelled like marijuana. Police found five bags of marijuana stuffed in empty pill bottles and several other pill bottles that smelled like marijuana, along with a digital scale.

Payne was arrested on charges of trafficking in drugs and marijuana. Reports said he told police he is a drug dealer when he was asked about the pill bottles.
