Founder of Covelli Enterprises dies at 94
Albert Covelli Sr., the founder of Covelli Enterprises, died Saturday at his home in Florida at the age of 94.
A Mahoning Valley icon and businessman, Covelli established an empire of McDonald’s fast food restaurants. He is the father of Sam Covelli, CEO of Covelli Enterprises in Warren.
He served 23 years on the board of the St. Joseph Development Foundation.
The flag outside the Covelli Center flew at half-staff in Covelli’s honor Monday afternoon. A statement on the Covelli Center website extended condolences to the Covelli family.
“The Covelli Centre staff would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Covelli Family for the passing of Mr. Albert Covelli, Sr. With any passing, there is a deep sense of loss, and though the community has lost a great pioneer and partner, there is no doubt that the entire Covelli family will continue to honor his memory and legacy through the amazing work they do throughout the Valley,” it read.
