Man dies in crash
LIVERPOOL
Alcohol is considered a contributing factor in a crash on state Route 267 that left one man dead Friday night. Edward H. Gula, 47, of East Liverpool was not wearing a seat belt when his 1991 Oldsmobile 88 travelled off the left side of the roadway and struck a utility pole at about 11:30 p.m., the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. Gula was transported to East Liverpool City Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Boardman Jazz

The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown J Caf , 505 Gypsy Lane, will present the Boardman Jazz Ensemble from noon to 1:30 p.m. May 22 in the multipurpose room. The ensemble has performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, South Street Seaport in New York City and numerous jazz festivals, community events and concerts. The Mahoning County Operating a Vehicle while Impaired Task Force had a checkpoint from 10 p.m. Saturday to midnight on Market Street at Hilton Avenue. Saturation patrols also are planned throughout Mahoning County through the weekend.
Power outage
BOARDMAN
Ohio Edison handled an outage Saturday afternoon after the weather caused 86 customers to lose power at 4:08 p.m., according to First Energy Area Manager David Turner. Power was restored by 5:30 p.m. Those affected were in the area of U.S. Route 224 and Market Street.
