America Makes will present course
YOUNGSTOWN
America Makes, formerly the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, is presenting the “Fundamentals of Additive Manufacturing Materials & Processes” course for engineers, technicians and managers interested in understanding the essential features of AM.
The course runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 12 and 13 at the American Makes facility, 236 W. Boardman St. The cost is $1,099 per person, and individuals may register by noon next Sunday at the America Makes website, www.americamakes.us. America Makes members will receive a 15 percent discount.
The course will focus on the metal alloy structures and properties generated by the various processes, multi- physics modeling of the processes, defects and their prevention and the mechanical resolution and accuracy of parts and components produced by AM.
Accepting new clients
BOARDMAN
CompOne, a locally owned worker’s compensation managed-care organization for employers and injured workers, announced it is accepting new employer clients during the worker’s compensation enrollment period.
MCO open enrollment occurs once every two years, and employers are able enroll with MCOs until May 23.
ATHENA Award dinner is May 22

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and The Vindicator will host the 22nd annual ATHENA Award dinner May 22 at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center, 7440 South Ave.
Diana Tremblay, General Motors vice president of global business services, will be the keynote speaker.
The award recognizes area business and professional women who distinguish themselves in terms of professional achievement, community service and support for professional women.

Handel’s to receive award for donations
POLAND
Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley in Boardman presents Handel’s Ice Cream with the 2014 “Champion for Our Valley’s Children” award, honoring the company for making more than $175,000 in contributions to the hospital’s programs and services the past five years.
The award presentation will take place at the fourth annual Champions for Our Valley’s Children dinner at 5:30 p.m. May 13 at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road.
