The death of an off-duty Ohio firefighter involved in a traffic crash is being called a homicide. The Cuyahoga County coroner said Friday that Theodore Wright, 58, suffered a gunshot wound to his left arm that caused internal injuries.

Police said Wright, of North Royalton, died after his truck crashed into a utility pole on Cleveland’s east side early Thursday. He was driving west when he lost control of his 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. Police said he died at the scene.

The Northeast Ohio Media Group reports that Wright is survived by his wife and three children.
