Pa. man gets prison term in crash that killed boy
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) — A northeastern Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to two to five years in prison in an accident that killed a child.
Thomas Letteer Jr., 24, of Plains Township pleaded guilty earlier in Luzerne County to accidents involving death.
He was charged in the Wilkes-Barre crash that killed 5-year-old Kevin Miller a few days before Christmas in 2012.
The second-degree felony carries a one-year mandatory term under sentencing guidelines, but prosecutors sought a two- to 10-year sentence, citing a positive drug test.
Letteer told Judge Joseph Sklarosky Jr. that he felt “terrible” about events. He said “I’m a good guy. I tried my whole life to stay out of trouble.”
But the judge told him he was troubled by what he said he perceived to be “a lack of remorse.”
