MCESC art show is Wednesday in Canfield

CANFIELD — The Mahoning County Educational Service Center will have its annual art show at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Joyce Brooks Center at the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center, 7300 N. Palymra Road.

The free public event begins with a gallery walk and refreshments. MCESC has hosted the event for 27 years.

The art show recognizes high school students who have an interest and talent in the visual arts. Entries are submitted through the art departments in the area school districts. This year, 16 schools participated in the event.

First-, second-, third-place and honorable mention awards are given in each of the show’s 23 categories. Special recognition will go to Margaret Stanko, a student from Canfield High School, who received this year’s Best of Show award.

Jarrell Puzey, a student from Mahoning County High School, received the Student Purchase Award and will receive $100 from MCESC. His colored-pencil portrait has been framed and will be permanently hung in the MCESC offices.
