Kirtland 5, Ursuline 4

KIRTLAND

Winning pitcher Lindsay Ward went 3-for-3, including a two-run homer in the fifth, to lead Kirtland (12-1), which is ranked sixth in the state in Division III. She also doubled and scored twice. Makayla Shore pitched a six-hitter for the eighth-ranked Irish (9-4-1), striking out 12 without a walk. Stephanie Ohalek singled, doubled and drove in two runs for Ursuline, while McKenzie Stimpert added two hits. The Hornets’ Casie Stark hit a two-run homer in the first inning.

Canfield 4, Howland 3

CANFIELD

Rachel Tinkey homered in the bottom of the sixth to break a 3-3 tie and lift Canfield (14-3, 6-0 AAC Red), which trailed 3-0 after one inning. Allison Fabry homered and drove in two runs. For Howland (5-6, 3-4), Olga Grech homered and drove in three runs.

Champion 11, Liberty 3

CHAMPION

Brittany Allen collected four hits, including a triple, and drove in five runs for the Golden Flashes (9-2-1, 5-2 AAC Blue). McKenzie Zigmont had three hits and struck out 10 as the winning pitcher. Amber Ricci had two hits for Champion. Katherine Sirano had two hits for the Leopards (4-6, 2-5) and Kimmy Cordy and Allie Longo each had a double.

LaBrae 10, Hubbard 6

LEAVITTSBURG

Somer McCoy doubled, homered and drove in four runs for LaBrae (11-2), which led 8-1 after five innings. Emily Dugan pitched a four-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk and also had two hits, including a double. Morgan Meyer had three hits and two RBIs and Lauren Rutherford had two hits. FOr Hubbard (4-8), Morgan Kist homered and drove in three runs.

Springfield 15, East Palestine 3, 5 innings

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Charley Troggio and Shelby Sandrock each had three hits and Nikki Bovo added two hits and four RBIs for Springfield (8-3, 7-1 ITCL Tier One). Josie Applegarth pitched a five-hitter for the win, striking out six, and had two RBIs. Julia Denmeade also had two RBIs.

Western Reserve 10, Sebring 0, 6 innings

BERLIN CENTER

Aleah Hughes (4-1) pitched a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts and one walk for Western Reserve (10-1, 8-0 ITCL Tier Two). Hughes also had three homers and eight RBIs, Gabby Stubbs had four singles, Jenny Stubbs had three singles and Maddie Krietzburg doubled and homered.

Columbiana 10, McDonald 0, 5 innings

COLUMBIANA

Holly Gotthardt threw a five-inning no-hitter for Columbiana (12-2, 6-1 ITCL Tier Two), striking out three and walking two. Sierra Ross added a triple and two singles and Madison Macklin and Madison Roesler each doubled. McDonald is 6-4, 5-3.

Mooney 15, Youngstown East 4

YOUNGSTOWN

Senior Tiffany Komara (1-3) pitched a no-hitter with eight strikeouts and two walks for Mooney (3-3). Sophomore Julie Cook had two doubles and four RBIs, freshman Bridget Sweeney had two doubles and sophomore Jami DiFabio had three RBIs.

Mathews 9, Maplewood 0, 5 innings

VIENNA

Cheyenne Eggens pitched a one-hitter for Mathews (8-4, 5-1 Northeastern Athletic Conference). Meredith Grimes had two doubles and three RBIs and Karli Romesberg had a double, a single and scored twice.

West Branch 16, Alliance 5, 5 innings

BERLIN CENTER

Bailey McElwain went 5 for 5, hit for the cycle and drove in four runs as the Warriors (10-3, 6-2) trounced the Aviators (1-8, 1-7 NBC). Bailey Byers and Jeni Stewart each had three hits and Kaylie Lewis and Maddie Pidgeon each had two for West Branch. Pidgeon drove in four runs.
