Every year since 2003, Boardman Park has hosted an Evening with the Easter Bunny event, during which children and their families can do fun activities and meet the Easter Bunny.

This year’s event took place on April 9-10, with each night selling out with 240 attendees in all.

“It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the holiday season with the family,” said Boardman Park recreations director Karen McCallum. “A lot of the families that come make this an annual tradition to come out.”

In addition to getting to meet and get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny, the children got to do activities such as stickers and stamps, making easter bunnies, decorating easter eggs and coloring pages.

“Kids love anything where they can get their hands dirty; kids love the stamps,” McCallum said.

There was a dinner consisting of macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets, fish sticks, apple sauce, corn, rolls and bread, cookies, cupcakes and juice to drink.

The movie version of “Peter Rabbit” was shown on a big screen.

Susan Malysa of Boardman attended with her children, Logan and Addison. Malysa said she and her children have been coming to the event for several years.

“We’ve been coming ever since my son was about 3 [years-old],” she said. “We enjoy it every year.”
