Three seniors from Fitch High School have recently achieved the honor of becoming Eagle Scouts of Troop 115. Zack While, Sal Minardi and Jeff Bishop have all spent a large part of their lives dedicated to helping others, learning skills, and giving back to their community.
Most recently, each of them took leadership and lead projects to give back to their community. While planned, raised $250, helped design and aided in the installation of two benches for Fire Station number 2 on Mahoning Ave. Minardi planned his project around raising $600 to build and restore the outhouses of the Loghurst Cabin Museum on Boardman-Canfield Road. Bishop led a project to build a drum storage cabinet for Austintown Fitch High School’s Band and raised $855 to do so.
Bishop joined the troop when he was in fourth grade and both While and Minardi joined when they were in first grade. They each went through the seven ranks of Scout, which are Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life and finally Eagle, the highest rank.
Since becoming Eagle Scouts, they have mentored the younger ranked scouts during troop meetings and camping trips. They all agreed that their favorite part of the Scouts is the camping trips and making friends from other towns.
Other than being in the Scouts, the three are also active in extracurricular activities at Fitch High School. Minardi is part of the National Honors Society and plays varsity football. While is part of the Robotics Team FalcoTech 3193, Academics Team, band and NHS. Bishop is in band, track, cross country and wrestling.
This coming fall, all three will be attending college. Minardi will be attending Youngstown State University and will be studying Criminal Justice. While will be attending Youngstown State University as well, using his Leslie Cochran Scholars Award to study Computer Science. Bishop will be attending the University of Akron to study Biomedical Engineering.
