Western Reserve Health Foundation grants announced
YOUNGSTOWN — The Western Reserve Health Foundation, previously held under the bankrupt Forum Health, has made its first distribution of grants since its $13 million in endowment assets was released by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
In its first round of grants for 2014, the foundation gave $25,000 to the Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic, and $10,000 each to the American Red Cross Mahoning Valley Chapter and Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries.
The grants were announced today by Phillip Dennison, WRHF board chairman, at the Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic, 2151 Rush Blvd.
The Neil Kennedy Clinic will use its $25,000 to help pay for construction of the 6-bed Frank and Pearl Gelbman Recovery House Emery Street adjacent to the clinic’s main campus.
Construction of the project, estimated to cost about $300,000. is expected to get underway in June and be completed by the end of the year, said Jerry Carter, clinic executive director.
