A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
April 22
Harassment: A Clingan Road woman reported having been harassed.
April 24
Complaint: Police received a report about a dog continually barking in the 6900 block of List Lane.
Theft: A Struthers Road man reported the theft of tubes containing 20 coins each, for a loss of $938.
BOARDMAN
April 24
Theft: Police arrested Naho Ito, 22, of Eastbrooke Trail, Poland, on a charge of theft for purportedly stealing a bottle of moisturizing liquid, an auxiliary cable and eyeliner from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Domestic violence: Timothy Bruner, 47, of Indianola Road, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his stepdaughter alleged Bruner grabbed her throat, lifted her off the ground, and threw her down several steps during an argument.
April 25
Counterfeit: A fake $100 bill was passed at a Speedway gas station, 649 E. Midlothian Blvd.
Vehicle theft: A 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan was stolen from a business in the 4700 block of Southern Boulevard.
Burglary: The U.S. Marshals Task Force took 24-year-old Keith Johnson into custody at his Youngstown residence on West Ravenwood Avenue on a burglary warrant a few days after a woman returned to find her Hopkins Road home had been ransacked. Also, a computer, jewelry and a flat-screen TV were among items missing.
Drugs: A traffic stop in the 8000 block of South Avenue led to a summons charging 26-year-old James K. Colian Jr. with possession of drug-abuse instruments. Colian, of West Pershing Street, Salem, had a spoon and tissue with suspected drug residue and a syringe, a report showed.
Burglary: Took place in the 200 block of Mathews Road via a side window. Two flat-screen TVs, money and Xbox and Wii game systems were stolen.
Arrest: Authorities booked 25-year-old Brennan Rayl of Sciota Avenue, Boardman, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired after a fellow officer reported an accident with an intoxicated motorist.
April 26
Theft: Police accused a 13-year-old Canfield boy with stealing an $85 pair of shoes and a $40 shirt from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.
Theft: A Pittsburgh man reported a bow and arrows were removed from his girlfriend’s garage on Hitchcock Road.
Felonious assault: A Poland woman alleged that an employee with a business in the 8200 block of South Avenue pushed her 15-year-old son, knocked him backward and placed the teen in an arm lock after a golf club had been damaged. The boy was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center’s Boardman Campus for a dislocated shoulder, a police report stated.
Domestic violence: Daniel R. Parker, 27, who listed addresses on Sunnybrooke Drive, Youngstown, and Parkgate Avenue, Austintown, was charged after his wife, of Flagler Lane, alleged Parker had called her 38 times with various threats and in violation of a protection order.
Theft: Police accused a 17-year-old township boy of taking a $30 cellphone case from Walmart.
Drugs: Authorities on Southern Boulevard pulled over Jennifer L. Phelps of Sixth Street, Struthers, and charged her with possession of heroin and of a controlled substance, both fifth-degree felonies. Phelps, 35, had wrapped in a lottery ticket a substance that tested positive for heroin, as well as a pill in a bottle that differed from the label, a report said.
Theft: A global-positioning-system device, a gift card and a boat propeller were removed from a car parked in the 900 block of Shields Road.
Theft: Ciera A. Johnson, 25, and Marcus K. Merchant, 26, both of West LaClede Avenue, Youngstown, were arrested and charged in the theft of three DVDs from Walmart.
Arrest: Authorities charged 27-year-old Daniel R. Parker with violating a protection order after his wife alleged Parker, of Sunnybrooke Drive, Youngstown, was at her Flagler Lane home in violation of the order.
Theft: Ja’Lisa J. Jethroe of Ferndale Avenue Southwest, Warren, was charged after a cellphone and a tongue ring were stolen from Walmart. The 22-year-old Jethroe also was wanted on a Niles warrant charging theft.
Theft: A woman in her mid-20s took two bottles of body wash from Family Dollar, 4030 South Ave.
Theft: A worker for Chuck E. Cheese, 521 Boardman-Poland Road, told officers that about 20 people left a birthday party without paying their $148 food bill.
Arrest: A traffic stop in the 1700 block of Palo Verde Drive resulted in a charge of obstructing official business against 39-year-old Daniel P. Miller of Spitler Road, Poland, when, police said, he tried to elude officers who attempted to pull him over, then fled on foot. Miller also was cited on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.
Theft: James J. Sheets of Midland Avenue, Youngstown, faces charges of theft and criminal trespassing after soda, car batteries, energy drinks and other merchandise were stolen from Walmart. The 27-year-old Sheets also violated a Jan. 5 warning to stay off the property, police said.
Theft: A man in his mid-40s stole eight sticks of deodorant and three packages of cold medicine from Family Dollar, 4030 South Ave.
Theft: A man returned to his residence in the 700 block of Brookfield Avenue to discover a 32-inch flat-screen TV missing.
April 27
Criminal mischief: A woman in the 700 block of Teakwood Drive noticed someone had spray-painted an obscenity and a racial epithet on her car.
Burglary: To an apartment in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court. Miscellaneous food was taken from a freezer.
April 28
Theft: A man reported a set of keys and a pair of shoes missing from his locker at a McClurg Road business.
Identity theft: A Pearson Circle woman found out someone had used her personal information to try to file an income-tax return.
Fraud: An Erskine Avenue woman discovered $1,843 worth of such charges to her checking account.
Attempted burglary: A man reported having caught someone trying to break into his home in the 6700 block of Tippecanoe Road through a sliding-glass door before the would-be burglar fled on foot.
Theft: A man discovered roughly $250 missing from an office in his Lemoyne Avenue home.
Arrest: A traffic stop led to the arrest of 40-year-old Melissa R. Taylor of South Avenue, Boardman, who faced a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.
Counterfeit: Phony $20 and $50 bills were discovered at Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave.
Theft: A woman in her late 20s or early 30s stole about $300 worth of children’s clothing from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.
Identity theft: A Northlawn Avenue woman learned via the Ohio Department of Taxation that her daughter’s Social Security number had been used to fraudulently file a 2012 income-tax return.
Theft: A woman took $14 worth of food from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.
Breaking and entering: Someone cut a chain-link fence before breaking into Spectrum Metal Finishing, 535 Bev Road. Stolen were aluminum posts and various pieces of machinery.
April 29
Assault: An East Western Reserve Road woman said a man pushed her during an argument, though she was not injured.
