“Friended to Death” opens Friday at Tower City Cinemas in Cleveland and features Ian Michaels, formerly of Youngstown, as “Kev.”

The R-rated movie also marks the film debut of director/writer Sarah Smick, who is married to Michaels. He is her writing partner.

They wrote the script after reading a news story about a Facebook junkie who faked his own death to find out who his true friends were.

Michaels has worked as a screenwriter, producer and actor in Los Angeles for the past 12 years. He attended Loyola University on a theater scholarship.
