Man wants live on My Way

GLOUCESTER, Mass.

A Gloucester man wants to change the name of his street to My Way, not because he’s a Frank Sinatra fan, but because he loves his wife so much.

Bill Coletti has asked the city to approve the name change in honor of his wife of 24 years, Myra, who goes by My. The proposal was to go before the city council last week.

The road, with just the one house, is called Gilson Way after the home’s previous owner. But the Colettis have lived there 13 years and think it’s time for a change.

The Gloucester Daily Times reported that they’ve asked his neighbors, and none objected. The biggest opponent of the renaming may be My herself, who thinks they can come up with something with more pizazz.

CPR instructor saves puppy

TALTY, Texas

The first time a CPR instructor in Texas ever used her training on a living being turned out to be at home with a four-legged friend. It worked.

Alicia Pederson of Talty said last week that applying her knowledge about breathing and compressions for humans saved her newborn puppy. Pederson learned CPR through the Dallas-based American Heart Association, where she has an administrative job.

Pederson’s dog, Izzy, started having four puppies March 1. One wasn’t breathing.

Pederson says she turned to her emergency training, sucked mucus from the dog’s airway “mouth to snout” and then used her thumb to do compressions.

The puppy began breathing.

Pederson says three of the pups will be given to friends. She’s keeping the resuscitated puppy named Miri — as in miracle.
