UPDATE | YSU's Abraham a finalist at NIU

YOUNGSTOWN — Martin Abraham, founding dean of Youngstown State University’s College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, is among four finalists to be executive vice president and provost of Northern Illinois University, according to the college’s website.

Abraham, who has worked at YSU since 2007, will be at NIU on Wednesday and Thursday to meet with faculty, students and staff.

Before coming to YSU, Abraham worked at the University of Toledo for 11 years including three as dean of its College of Graduate Studies.

The three other finalists for the NIU job will be on campus for similar visits and discussions later this month, according to the university’s website.

The potential departure of Abraham from YSU comes on the heels of Randy Dunn leaving as its president on March 21 to take a similar job with Southern Illinois University.

Also, Ikram Khawaja, YSU's provost and vice president for academic affairs, is the university's interim president. He's retiring June 30. Also, Gene Grilli, vice president for finance and administration, is expected to leave soon.
