CAMPBELL

Three Youngstown men are facing charges of drug trafficking and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop in Campbell.

Police said they pulled over a car driven by Daniel Paris, 46, of Randolph Street, for speeding at 5:36 p.m. Saturday. Laytton Lenoir, 34, of Richview Avenue, and Devyn J. Bellamy, 33, of West Wood Street, were in the car.

A police dog smelled drugs in the car, and during a search, an officer found $5,813 in cash in Paris’ pocket and $1,900 on Lenoir, according to a police report.

Police said an officer found a digital scale with white residue and unused plastic bags inside Lenoir’s backpack. Bellamy was not arrested at the time because police said nothing illegal was found on him or in his possession, police said, but he did ask for a ride to the police station.

After retrieving his camera bag from Paris’ car, Bellamy sat next to a handcuffed Lenoir at the police station.

When Lenoir was taken from the back of the patrol car, a bag containing one gram of suspected cocaine was found under his right leg, police said. Upon further questioning, Bellamy said he had a bag with 7.7 grams of suspected cocaine in his left sock that he took from his camera bag during the ride to the police station, police said.

Also, police said they found 2.2 grams of suspected marijuana in Bellamy’s camera bag.

During questioning, Lenoir told police he gave them a false name and was charged with obstructing official business, police said.

The three are being held in the Mahoning County jail without bond pending a Tuesday appearance in Campbell Municipal Court.
