CANFIELD

Coach: Larry Davis, 37th season, 514-116.

2013 record: 16-2, 6-0 All-American Conference American Division.

Projected starters: Singles — 1. Nick Debiec, senior, 19-5 in 2013. 2. Ryan Kaleel, senior, 6-10. 3. Bobby Long, freshman. Doubles — 1. Will Brown, senior, 19-5, and Dave Hofsess, sophomore, 11-7. 2. Tyler Tareshawty, junior, 14-5, and Hunter Todd, senior, 12-4.

Other contributors: Alec Kan, sophomore; Mason Mangapora, sophomore.

Outlook: Debiec and Brown fell one match short of last year’s state doubles tournament. Davis said the Cardinals have excellent depth and lots of experience. He said Canfield should be pretty even with Boardman, followed by Poland or Howland.

NILES

Coach: Rick Gaydos, seventh season.

2013 record: 4-12.

Projected starters: Singles — 1. Levi Griffith, senior. 2. Ben Wakefield, freshman. 3. Shawn Mendenhall, senior. Doubles — 1. Jake Enoch, senior, and Chad Keener, junior. 2. Tommy Ford, freshman, and Jeremy Kelly, freshman.

Outlook: Gaydos is hoping his veterans Griffith and Mendenhall provide leadership. His newcomers include three freshmen.

POLAND

Coach: Annie Marian, third season.

2013 record: 12-7.

Projected starters: Singles — 1. Garrett Gardner, senior, 27-1 in 2013. 2. Anthony Ricciardi, junior. Others: Rocky Jewald, junior; Mike Houy, junior; Justin Christoff, senior.

Other contributors: Devin Beaumier, senior; Zack Bindler, freshman; Kevin Burnett, junior; Scotty Donnachie, junior; Brian Higgins, senior; Clay Miller, senior; Isaac Miller, junior; Carli Sebest, junior; Jon Seitz, senior; Daniel Skoloda, junior.

Outlook: Gardner was a state singles qualifier last spring. Marian expects her veterans to do well. “But we have a lot of new players and therefore lack match experience,” she said.

LAKEVIEW

Coach: Stephanie Hickey, 10th year, 97-45.

2013 record: 12-4, 6-0 AAC National.

Returning Lettermen: Singles — Aaron Paczak, senior, 15-1 in 2013; Zach Teffner, sophomore, 11-4. Singles/doubles — Eric Rohrabaugh, junior, 6-4 singles, 4-1 doubles; Nate Erickson, junior, 6-9; Job Kundel, junior; Drew Taylor, junior, 1-5; Will Pinkerton, sophomore, 2-10; Trevor Rohrabaugh, freshman.

WEST BRANCH

Coach: Elaine Bonar, 28th year, 333-504.

2013 record: 14-4, second place in Northeastern Buckeye Conference, co-champion of North Eastern Tennis League.

Projected starters: Singles — 1. Danny Schlueter, junior, 12-6 in 2013. 2. Thomas Korda, senior, 10-5. 3. Jeremy Truex, senior, 14-4. Doubles — 1. David Fether, senior, 7-1, and Marshall Ney, freshman. 2. Devin Wilson, senior, and Dylan Walker, senior.

Outlook: Bonar said the Warriors’ strength is the return of last year’s singles players.

WARREN JFK

Coach: Joe Marino, 25th year.

2013 record: 15-3, 4-0 Parochial League.

Projected starters: Singles — 1. Tyler Cole, senior, 13-3 in 2013. 2 John Nader, senior, 11-4. 3. Caelan Phillips, junior, 7-7.
