Minority women's health program is April 12

A free community-outreach program designed for minority women, “300 Sisters in Red” will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 12 at Youngstown State University’s Kilcawley Center. The topic will be managing stress.

The day includes health screenings, speakers, massages, yoga, door prizes and informational displays.

Registration is required and is limited to the first 300 women to call 330-480-3070 by Saturday. Appointments must be made, and a 12-hour fast is required for cholesterol and blood-sugar tests.

Free parking is available in YSU’s M-2 deck, entering from Fifth Avenue.

Dr. Maryann Echols, psychologist, will discuss managing stress to prevent risk factors and control health issues in her keynote speech at 10:30 a.m.

Other speakers for break-out sessions will be Jaison C. Boyd on training body and mind to reach full potential, Dr. Kathleen Padgitt on fighting inflammation the drug-free way, Dr. Ayla Ahmed Kessler on breast cancer from screening to survivorship and Dr. Kellie Kirksey on holistic healing.
