Man dies in fire

SALEM

A man was killed in a fire at an 861 S. Lincoln Ave. home Friday evening.

Firefighters were called to the home by police about 9:35 p.m. and found flames on the second floor. The mother of the victim made it outside and told firefighters her son was on the second floor. Firefighters tried to get inside to find him, and found his father wandering around on the first floor. They took him outside, reports said.

However, the heat from the fire made it difficult for firefighters to get to the victim. He was found and taken to a hospital where he later died, reports said.

A fire department spokesman would not release the man’s name Saturday, saying only he was middle-aged. The state fire marshal is investigating.

Drugstore outburst

A Campbell woman was cited for disorderly conduct after witnesses said she became irate about the delay in filling a prescription for her at a drugstore about 2:45 p.m. Friday.

Reports said witnesses told police that Deana Jenkins, 27, of Monte Avenue in Campbell called employees vulgar names and flipped over displays and threw items off the shelves when she was told it would take some time to fill her prescription.

Police found her at a South Avenue store where she was issued the citation and ordered to appear Monday morning in municipal court.
